It is something I advocate for everyone. Why do you want to learn something from someone, anyone, if you did not want to be BETTER at them at that? What's the point? Ultimately you win or lose. No in the middle.
And its something I've always done. If I pick up something from someone, even from the ether, I do it better than them. Simple.
I could give you plenty of examples, I learn very humbly too, I don't argue with those teaching me.
But when I, after many years are BETTER THAN THEM (I always was haha) - then they auto submit to ME!
And I deserve this.
Anyway, this isn't about me.
Bret Hart was recently talking about Steve Austin, people were whining about him "criticizing" Steve. No he wasn't. He was simply pointing out FACTS.
There is a reason I love the WWE Attitude Era, it made the company the mega company it is today, there will likely never be another, the 90's, as I keep talking about. REAL.
But Bret Hart to me has always been my favorite, the greatest to me (Undertaker too, but in a different sense).
Undoubtedly, Steve is the one remembered most. But did we ever forget Bret? I doubt it.
He BUILT the base. Without his work, and everyone knows it, the WWE would never have that spring board it got in the 90's.
He's old school. Like I am. I've always been called in as a hitman to fix problems I never created, I've mentioned that myself.
Learned from Stu Hart, their own mother (Owen - RIP and him and perhaps Davey Boy Smith too) despite living with a wrestler- was going to spell it WRASSLER, hehe - couldn't take the screams of pain coming from the basement, but that's why they achieved the results they did later in life. Brutality is the only way that works, ultimately, I've explained this one so often!!!!
And he talks facts. All he said was Steve was green when he came in, Steve was put in all sorts of situations, and Steve Austin isn't anywhere near as technically superb as Bret is, or even the Taker. And therefore, and thus he had to keep mentoring Steve, and that's all he said, yet you got idiots whining about that too! I mean its a dangerous biz. Y'all know that. So Bret was like "I thought you were working my arm", Steve thought something else, but he didnt know any better, Bret said that too, so I don't see what the fuss is about!
Taker is MMA level in some regards.
Bret, old school mat wrestler, even people not into wrestling can see the brilliance of his moves, not choreographed either.
Steve, just an old school guy that loads trucks. Or used to, haha, at the DOCKS. And he too said, what I do "if you ain't squatting you aint training".
his words - "If all you do is SQUAT, then you will GROW!"
He wasn't referring to little pee wee's either, lol.
I think if I had to choose, ultimately Bret is the greatest, all things said and done.
And I truly believe Steve would agree, despite his success, money etc being a lot more.
Was the Montreal SCREWJOB real? Yes. Was Bret screwed over in terms of the overall deal etc? Not really, company was going in a different direction, and Bret was too old school for some of the DX stuff etc, and openly said it, so that was a business decision, simple as that ...
And that is THAT !!!!! I keep hearing people whine about Bret having sour grapes but that's simply not true. The man speaks FACTS, simple as that, Jack.
Your thoughts? Anyone else miss the days they called WWE the WWF? Do you even remember them?????
Best
